Three foundation supports Volta School for the Deaf on Val's Day

Three foundations - The Dress A Kid Foundation (DAK), Face Kraft Gh and the Food 4All Gh - have presented some items to the Volta School for the Deaf in Hohoe in the Volta Region as part of their social responsibility to humanity.

The donation, which was themed 'The 1bar Project' saw members of the three Foundations donate chocolates, sanitary wares, food items and clothing other items to the children on World Chocolate Day/Valentine's Day.

The Ghana Cocoa Board supported the initiative with boxes of chocolates while the Monad Medical Services Ltd. supported the group with some disinfectants to help improve hygiene in the school.

A representative of Dress a Kid, Ms Ama Kwapong, when presenting the items to the school said, the gesture was aimed at showing love to the children on World Chocolate Day.

She said the gesture was part of the group's yearly contribution to deprived communities in the country and that the foundation aimed at reaching out to more communities in the country in the coming years.

The Headmistress of the school, Madam Diddy Ntim, expressed gratitude to the foundations for showing their love to the children in the school on Valentine's Day.

She acknowledged government's support to the school but said the school still needed improved facilities and equipment to promote teaching and learning.

Madam Ntim called on non-governmental organisations and individuals to come to the aid of parents who found it difficult to support their children.

She also pleaded with benevolent bodies to help refurbish the vocational department and construct a fence wall around the school to stop encroachers from invading the school.

“Our successes are more than our problems and for that we are proud to have produced a number of students who are workers of this school. We have some others working as staff and we are confident that after our education we are not useless, we are useful….It is a success story”, she said.
