The beneficiary communities were Kasoa, Adentan, Abeka and Papaase Number One.

A 13-member team of medical officers from the United States of America (USA) was brought in by the organisers to undertake the exercise.

The team was  supported by a medical officer from the Ridge Hospital, two local nurses and a laboratory technician.

The Head Pastor of the Kasoa Walantu branch of the Four Square Gospel Church, Robert Samuel Aggrey, said the exercise was meant for all residents irrespective of their religious affiliations.

He said this was the fourth time the outreach programme was being organised.

The leader of the US team, Dr Ryan Venis, said the team was made up of three doctors, three nurses and a pharmacist and other paramedical staff from various hospitals in the USA.

He said they financed their trip individually and the medications were supplied by the various institutions they worked for.

Dr Venis said the target was to treat more than 1000 people before their departure.

He said this was the team’s maiden visit to Africa and was to help them to identify various diseases in Ghana to enable them to prepare adequately for their next visit.
