The Sowutuom and Anyaa District Police commands received one motorbike each, while the Weija Municipal Fire Service also received one desktop computer and its accessories.

The motorbikes are also expected to assist the security agencies to fight crime and maintain peace and order in the municipality.

The items were donated by the GCMA at a cost of GH¢16,000.

Consistent support

Presenting the items, the Municipal Chief Executive of the GCMA, Mr Aristo Aryee, said the assembly had decided to support all the security agencies in the area every quarter to facilitate their operations.

In view of that he said the assembly would regularly supply the agencies with the requisite implements which would aid them in their activities.

“We have also been supplying them with monthly coupons to use for fuel,” he said.

Mr Aryee charged the agencies to ensure that they maintained the items since the assembly’s auditors would do regular auditing the items.

Policing to doorsteps

Receiving the motorbikes, the Sowutuom District Police Commander, Superintendent Ms Suzzy Adjei, said they would improve police visibility “hence bringing policing to the doorstep of the people.”

With the 2016 general election just around the corner, Ms Adjei stated that the donation was timely.

She assured that the motorbike would be put to good use to ensure regular maintenance.

For his part, the acting Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Fire Commander Grade Three Isaac Saah, said the computer would make work easier and faster.
