The Garden show, which is on the theme, “Gardening for Value- Health, Beauty, Jobs and Income”, is aimed at creating awareness about the commercial and psychological benefits of urban beautification and gardening.

It is the second in the series and  was put together by Strategic Communications Africa Limited (Stratcomm Africa), to help beautify Ghana, enhance its green spaces and make it a pleasant habitat for its citizens, as well as a compelling investment and tourism destination.

The 11-day event would showcase creations and facilities from the best florists, garden enthusiasts, garden furniture, ornament manufacturers and other gardening and flower related activities that the country has to offer.

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Murtala Mohammed, who launched the show last Friday, called on Ghanaians to purchase made-in-Ghana goods in order to strengthen our foreign exchange resources.

He said the country’s dependence on imports, “is what has been putting pressure on our limited foreign exchange resources”, and that, there was the need for the country to reverse its import dependence.

He said to achieve this, it was important for the private sector and local producers to show that they could be globally competitive.

On her part, the Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa, Ms Esther A.N.Cobbah, encouraged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity to showcase their products in order to generate income for themselves and the nation.

The show would feature a conference, workshops, business networking, flower and garden exhibitions, fashion shows, picnics and green clinics.
