Ghana Meteo forecasts localised rain, thunderstorms across middle, transition and northern sectors

Ghana is expected to experience partly cloudy conditions across most parts of the country this morning, with sunny weather becoming more prominent as the day progresses, according to the Ghana Meteorological Agency.

In its 18-hour impact-based forecast issued at 0500 UTC and valid from 6 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, the agency said mist or fog may occur over a few forested and mountainous areas in the morning. It warned of the possibility of localised rain and thunderstorms over parts of the middle, transition and northern sectors later in the afternoon into the evening.

The forecast places the likelihood of these weather events at a low to medium risk level, indicating that residents in the affected areas should be aware of the potential for sudden downpours and thunderstorms.

According to the agency's regional temperature table, the coastal sector is expected to record minimum temperatures of 24 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures of 33 degrees Celsius.

The forest sector is projected to experience temperatures ranging from a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius. The transition sector is expected to see temperatures between 22 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, while the northern sector will experience a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius.

In Accra, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy in the morning, sunny with periods in the afternoon, and mostly cloudy in the evening, with temperatures ranging from 24 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius.

Kumasi is expected to experience mist in the morning with a 40 per cent probability of occurrence, sunny intervals in the afternoon and thunderstorms with rain in the evening. Temperatures will range from 24 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius.

In Tamale, partly cloudy conditions are expected in the morning, sunny periods in the afternoon and thunderstorms with rain in the evening, with temperatures ranging from 24 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius. Yendi and Bolgatanga will also experience similar conditions, with thunderstorms expected in the evening and temperatures reaching up to 36 degrees Celsius in Bolgatanga.

Takoradi is expected to experience mist in the morning, sunny intervals in the afternoon and mostly cloudy conditions in the evening, with temperatures ranging from 25 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius.

The state of the sea is expected to be rough, the agency warned, urging caution for fishermen and other sea users.

The forecast was signed by Ms Nancy Frimpong Asare, Duty Forecaster at the Central Analysis and Forecasting Office of the Ghana Meteorological Agency.
