€100,000 scale-up support launched for Ghanaian start-ups
A German-funded entrepreneurship programme that has supported more than 100 start-ups across Africa has reopened applications in Ghana, offering selected businesses non-dilutive capital of up to €100,000 with the possibility of an additional €200,000 in performance-based funding.
The develoPPP Ventures programme, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and DEG Impulse gGmbH, announced the Ghana relaunch after a one-year hiatus, with an application deadline of June 30, 2026.
The Ghana rollout is being led by GreenTec Capital Partners in collaboration with Bakerson Limited.
Previous cohort
The previous cohort was selected in May 2025. An earlier November 2024 cohort secured €1 million in develoPPP funding alone, including more than €500,000 in performance-based top-up grants.
In 2025, the programme deployed over €2.5 million across Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire, supporting 24 start-ups across more than 10 sectors.
Through its matching model, the programme effectively mobilised more than €5 million in total execution capacity.
Beyond the capital, selected start-ups will receive tailored technical assistance, strategic guidance from sector experts, and direct connections across Africa's venture landscape.
To qualify, applicants must be privately owned, tech-enabled and profit-driven, with a market-ready product or service and evidence of initial revenues.
Disbursement
Businesses must be registered in Ghana — or commit to registering prior to disbursement — and must not have raised more than €2 million in total funding to date.
In addition, applicants are required to demonstrate alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Applicants are also required to secure a matching private investment of €100,000 within six months prior to application or before disbursement and to submit a comprehensive three-year business and financial plan.
A website, "www.developpp.de/en/application/ventures", has also been opened for interested applicants to make their entries.
Women-led ventures and businesses advancing gender equality have been encouraged to apply.
