Okudzeto Ablakwa donates towards COVID-19

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Tongu Constituency, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has donated some items as part of his contribution to curtail the COVID-19.

They included cartons of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, Veronica buckets, face masks, disposable gloves and assorted paper towels to be used by frontline health workers at all 29 health facilities in the constituency.

Mr Ablakwa donated the items after a meeting which was held at the Battor Catholic Hospital.

In attendance were the District Health Director and her staff; the Medical Superintendent of the Battor Catholic Hospital; doctors, nurses and members of the constituency’s special Coronavirus Task Force.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Ablakwa assured the health professionals that their request for personal protective equipment (PPEs), gumboots, shields, goggles and infrared thermometers would be personally delivered before close of this week.

He also offered compensation packages for the task force and an insurance package for a team of five, which included a doctor and three nurses responsible for providing care at the isolation centre.

“All health professionals everywhere in Ghana deserve our attention, particularly, at this time of tremendous sacrifice on their part,” he added.

Mr Ablakwa said he was hopeful that pronouncements at the national level would trickle down and soon manifest in districts outside the capital.

He, however, urged members of his constituency to do their best in protecting themselves from being infected by the novel coronavirus, adding that: “Let us all do what we can to defeat COVID-19.”

The MP also set up an improvised isolation centre for the constituency to cater for emergencies that may arise in the constituency.
