Police retrieve phone of Otumfuo’s Asamponhene

The mobile phone of the late Asamponhene of Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Oheneba Kwadwo Afodour, which was  retrieved from his vehicle at the crime scene is giving the Ashanti Regional police a clue which will help them close in on the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

The police began investigations into the murder case last Monday, and so far, three arrests have been made and the police yesterday told the Daily Graphic that more clues were coming after they had retrieved the phone.

A police source, who told the Daily Graphic that a press conference scheduled for yesterday had to be called off, confirmed that vital information had been retrieved from the cellular phone of the deceased which “has given the police an idea about the perpetrators.”

The phone was found in the vehicle of the deceased on the scene last Sunday and has since been in the custody of the police.

The source explained that the police were still putting “the pieces of information together  before proceeding with the arrest of all the suspects.”

From the arrests made last Monday, one person  has been released on police enquiry bail but two are still in custody but the police are reluctant to reveal their identity

Phone call

Last Monday, the police told the Daily Graphic that before the tragic incident on Sunday, the late Nana Afodour received a phone call from one of the suspects, inviting him to meet him at Suame, a suburb of Kumasi, to settle an outstanding loan the former had taken from the latter.

However, later that day, the body of the murdered chief was found at the back of his vehicle, while there had also been an attempt to set the vehicle ablaze.
