Ghana Statistical Association supports disabled UG student with wheelchair and educational Aid

The Ghana Statistical Association (GSA) has donated a wheelchair and educational materials to Isaiah Amaad Awuku, a first-year physically challenged University of Ghana student.

This is to enable Isaiah Amaad Awuku to about his academic journey unimpeded with his mobility on campus.

The initiative was spearheaded by the President of the GSA,  Professor Nicholas N.N. Nsowah-Nuamah, after hearing about Isaiah’s predicament.

“I was deeply touched by Isaiah’s story. His tenacity in overcoming physical challenges to pursue his academic dreams inspired a strong sense of responsibility to do something to support him. At GSA, we believe in creating opportunities and offering whatever assistance is needed for people like Isaiah to thrive,” he said.

Professor Nsowah-Nuamah, along with Isaiah’s friends, raised funds to purchase a wheelchair to ensure that he could move easily around campus. 

With visible emotion, Isaiah thanked the GSA for the generous donation, saying, “This wheelchair and the educational materials will make a huge difference in my life. Now I can move around campus more easily and focus on my studies without the constant worry of struggling to get around. I’m deeply grateful to Professor Nsowah-Nuamah and the GSA for their kindness and generosity.”

Isaiah’s mother also expressed her appreciation, stating, “This wheelchair will bring so much ease to Isaiah’s life. It will allow him to be more independent and focus on his studies. We are extremely grateful for this timely support.”
