A policeman on the rank of Inspector, Hance Atubra, who saved a number of people during a recent fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region has been promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who promoted Hance Atubra from the Tarkwa Division explained that it was for the role he played in saving lives during the fire outbreak at Aboso,
The incident occurred on August 26, 2026 at the Aboso Main Lorry Station.
Some shops were engulfed in flames resulting in damage to properties.
Atubra, who was the first policeman to arrive at the scene, immediately took action to assist people trapped in the affected area and helped to evacuate the victims to safety.
His actions were highly commended by people who witnessed the incident, leading to a recommendation for his promotion in recognition of his courage, quick response and efforts to save life and property.
The promotion underscores the Police Administration’s commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate exceptional courage, dedication and commitment to duty.
