‘Invest in technology to manage data’
The Regional Managing Director of Hitachi Vantara (a global technology firm), Mr Wale Awosokanre, has advised institutions in the country to embrace technology to enhance the storage and retrieval of relevant data in their operations.
He said his engagement with many institutions in Africa had revealed that some of them were not aware of the essence of the data they generated, leading to their inability to secure or strengthen their data systems.
Mr Awosokanre, an expert in information communications technology (ICT), stated that companies could derive a great deal of wealth from the data they generated if they adopted the right systems in their operations.

“Many companies have failed to maximise their potential for lack of knowledge on how to store, enrich, analyse and monetise a huge volume of data they generate from their everyday operations.
“It is essential for the country to recognise the power of data in business innovations and revenue growth, information and communication technology to drive its institutions to achieve desired values,” he said.
Tech forum
Mr Awosokanre was speaking at a forum organised by Hitachi Vantara in Accra to discuss ways institutions and firms could use the data they generate to boost their operations.
The company presented solutions on its stable that could help organisations and institutions put their data to better use, including how to monetise such data.
It assembled experts in the ICT space, who shared their experiences with participants to enhance their knowledge on data maximisation.
Officials of Hitachi Vantara also informed the participants that they had the capacity to implement solutions to enhance their data transformation through specialised partners, including Ostec, CWG and Bluespace.

Mr Awosokanre further advised businesses to take advantage of emerging digital transformation tools to accelerate cost efficiency and save time by automating operations and processes.
That, he said, would increase customer loyalty and grow revenue by improving customer experience.
For her part, Hitachi’s Account Manager for West Africa, Mrs Adenike Omojokun, equated the relevance of data to the sun and said “data can no longer be viewed under the lenses of oil to any business as this invariably will be liquidated.
“The relevance of data to any business is relative to the power of the sun to humanity for businesses, institutions and economies to thrive in these times and into the future.”
