Kpatinga chieftaincy conflict: five before court
Five persons arrested in connection with the chieftaincy dispute at Kpatinga in the Gushegu municipality in the Northern Region will be put before the Tamale Circuit Court today.
They are Hashmin Mumanjadi, 32, a health assistant; Alidu Alhassan, 27; Fatawu Kpanalana, 35; Mohamadu Dokurugu, 55, and Iddrisu Azindoi, 57, all farmers.
They have been charged with conspiracy, causing damage, causing harm and possession of fire arms in a distracted area.
Calm returns
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Northern Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Mohammed Yusif Tanko, who made this known to the Daily Graphic, said calm had been restored to the area.
He said the policemen and soldiers deployed to the area had intensified their patrols to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

Fighting broke out at Kpatinga last Friday evening between two feuding factions in a chieftaincy dispute that lasted for two days.
One person was killed during the conflict, while five others sustained injuries.
The security forces deployed to maintain law and order arrested five persons with firearms during the conflict.
The injured were sent to the Gushegu Health Centre for treatment.
