LEKMA engages residents for development

The Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) has embarked on a community engagement tour to discuss issues pertaining to the municipality with residents.

Dubbed; Make LEKMA Work, the project which has been divided into five key areas would focus on sanitation, security, education, health and discipline.

Speaking at the maiden event which began with residents of Tsuibleoo South, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), of LEKMA, Mr Mordecai Quarshie said, the assembly existed to initiate policies, programmes and execute developmental projects for the benefit of residents.

He indicated that the work ahead was herculean hence the need for residents to put aside their party affiliations and come together to find lasting solutions to the challenges of the municipality.

The MCE indicated that from time to time the assembly would be brought to the doorsteps of residents so to enhance the relationship.

The residents also raised some key issues including the non-availability of them drains and bridges, and encroachment on some roads and reserved sites with the municipality.

Mr Quarshie in his response tasked the Roads and Works Engineers as well as the Physical Planning Department of LEKMA to mark all encroached houses and properties to pave way for demolishing works to enable the assembly start work on drains and bridges within the electoral area.

Mr Quarshie assured residents that, he would provide leadership devoid of partisanship for the development of the municipality.

“I am here to serve the people of Ledzokuku irrespective of one’s political affiliation,” he stated.

The MCE, who was accompanied by some directors and heads of departments, used the meeting to solicit support from residents in the execution of his duties and called on them to be key partners towards the development of the municipality.
