The initiative is to allow the workers to be identified when they undertake their duty to enhance good sanitation in the municipality.

According to the Environmental Officer of the municipality, Mr Samuel Agblo, most residents in the municipality do not cooperate with the workers who are not in uniform, making it difficult for the them to work effectively.

He, therefore, commended the municipality for providing them with uniforms.

Presenting the items to the sanitation staff last Wednesday, the Municipal Chief Executive for LEKMA, Mr Seth Badu Tawiah, said the uniforms were to motivate the workers to perform their job effectively.

The absence of the uniforms had posed a lot of challenges to the workers and management, he said, adding that “we are now relieved as management”.

He urged the public to cooperate with the sanitation workers to address the insanitary conditions in the municipality.

The beneficiaries could not hide their joy. “We are very grateful, it was something we have been expecting for a long time, “Mr Jonathan Teketey, the Zonal Head at the Teshie Environmental Health Unit, said.
