Mahama off to Gambia for mediation talks

President John Dramani Mahama will today join other regional leaders to Banjul to hold talks with The Gambia's leader Yahya Jammeh on the current situation in the country.

President  Jammeh has, after earlier conceding defeat in Presidential polls, annulled the elections and called for a re-run.

President Mahama has accepted the request of the regional body, ECOWAS, to join the Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and two others to attempt a resolution of the political situation in The Gambia.
