Man jailed for posting girlfriend’s nude pictures on Facebook
A 24-year-old labourer has been sentenced to two months’ imprisonment by the Circuit Court in Accra for posting his ex-girlfriend’s nude pictures on Facebook, a social media platform.

David Dickson Donkoh is said to have embarked on the act after his ex-girlfriend had terminated their one-year-old relationship.
According to the complainant, Donkoh had slept with her close friend, hence her decision to end the relationship.
Show of powers
In his bid to show his powers, Donkoh posted the complainant’s nude pictures on Facebook, after he had asked her to rescind her decision but to no avail.
He was charged with causing emotional, verbal and psychological abuse to the victim, to which he pleaded guilty and the court, presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemeva, convicted him on his own plea.
Handing down the sentence, the judge noted that the act was a gross violation of the victim’s right to privacy, while it further undermined her dignity.
According to the court, the pictures uploaded by Donkoh could also be broadcast by others, noting that “these trends of revenge are unfortunate”.
Inspector Kofi Atimbire, who prosecuted, had told the court that the complainant resided at Chorkor, where Donkoh also lived.

He said both Donkoh and the complainant were schoolmates who completed senior high school in 2008.
Fiancee
According to the prosecutor, the complainant was a fiancée to Donkoh for a year, but about two months ago she terminated the relationship because Donkoh had sex with her close friend.
Inspector Atimbire said on January 22, this year, the complainant had a call from her friends asking her to go to “Facebook and WhatsApp to see what was happening”.
He said on visiting those media platforms, the complainant saw her nude pictures and called Donkoh to demand answers for his actions.
The prosecutor said Donkoh replied that he wanted to embarrass her, so that no man would marry her in future.
The complainant reported the matter to the police and Donkor was arrested.
Inspector Atimbire said in Donkoh’s caution statement, he had admitted having uploaded the naked pictures of the complainant only for a few minutes but deleted them later.
According to the prosecutor, Donkoh indicated that he loved the complainant so much and that he did not know what to do after she had decided to end the relationship.
