The Evangel Assemblies of God Church in Adabraka has held a free health screening exercise for the members of the church.

The one-day event, which benefited over 200 members, was meant to promote healthy living among them.

It also gave them the opportunity to check their health status.

They undertook blood pressure (BP), breast lump, sugar level, eye and body mass index (BMI) tests.

A paediatrician from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Prof. Bamenla Goka, who was one of the medical officers at the event, advised the members to stay healthy.

Advice

Those with common diseases such as hypertension were asked to consult their doctors regularly for advice.

Briefing the Daily Graphic after the exercise, the Associate Pastor of the Church, Rev. Dan-Bismark Addy, said it was the responsibility of the church to ensure that its members lived healthy lives.

That, he said, informed the church’s decision to hold the exercise, adding that it was also part of its 70th anniversary celebration.

Rev. Addy used the occasion to call on members to report early to the hospital whenever they fell sick.

He observed that some people only visited health centres when they were sick and indicated that it was not a good practice.

According to him, the church spent an estimated amount of GH¢3,500 in organising the exercise, and promised to invest more in future exercises.
