N/Region journalists involved in accident

 A team of journalists from the Northern Region who were accompanying the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), Mr Mahama Ayariga, to the Bole District escaped death when the Ford vehicle on which they were travelling veered off the road and landed under a bridge on the Bole road.

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Bole Government Hospital for treatment. The victims were later transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where some of them have since been treated and discharged.

Victims

The journalists involved in the accident included reporters from the New Times Corporation, Ghana News Agency (GNA), Citi FM, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and a national service person with the Daily Graphic.

The rest were from Zaa Radio, Justice Radio, Bishara Radio, TV3, UTV and Multi TV.

Those injured had fractured arms, cuts and bruises. 

Assignment

The journalists were on their way to Banda Nkwanta with Mr Ayariga to cover a programme on illegal mining in that area as part of the minister’s two-day official visit to the Northern Region.

According to an eye-witness account, upon reaching a spot on the Bole road, the steer rack of the Ford vehicle got dislodged from its holder. The driver lost control and the vehicle veered off the road.
