Obuasi: Lovebirds, wedding guests busted in lockdown wedding
A couple together with 44 of their guests were on Saturday arrested by the police for defying the presidential directive on public gatherings and failing to comply with the restriction Act 1012(2020) to organise a marriage ceremony at Akaporiso, a suburb of Obuasi.
The couple together with their guests numbering about 100 were engrossed in the ceremony when the police swooped on them.
The police managed to arrest the groom, Philip Ahenakwa, 35; the bride, Juliana Agyei, 25 and 44 others making a total of 46 suspects.

Confirming the arrest to the Daily Graphic, the Obuasi District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Martin Asenso said around 11am on Saturday, April 11, 2020, the police had a tip off that some people were having a marriage ceremony in a house at Akaporiso.
He said the Obuasi Security Task Force on Operation COVID 19 Safety were deployed there and on seeing the police, he said some of the guests took to their heels.
However, he said the team managed to arrest 46 of them including the couple.
He said the suspects have since been released on police bail to reappear in court on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
