The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has restored calm at Manso-Nseina in the Ashanti Region following a shooting incident involving a police team and some youth of the town, which resulted in the death of one person and injury to one police officer.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, 2026, the Command said preliminary investigations indicated that one person was shot when a mob from the town attacked the police and demanded the release of a suspect who had been arrested for a narcotics-related offence.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the injured officer is receiving medical attention.
The Regional Commander and a team of officers visited the scene and engaged community leaders. Security has since been intensified in the community while investigations continue.
