Practise cleanliness in your homes — K-Poly Rector

The Rector of the Kumasi Polytechnic, Prof N.N.N. Nsowah-Nuamah, has called on the Ghanaian youth to not make their involvement in the National Sanitation Exercise a nine days’ wonder but to practise it in their various homes.

He says ge believes should every student or the Ghanaian youth make the cleaning exercise a part of their weekly activities, it would help inculcate the spirit of communal labour and extend the habit to future generations.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in an interview after the clean-up exercise organised on both the Kumasi and the Adakwa Jachie campuses, the rector said the involvement of students in national exercises such as the National Sanitation Day(NSD) would help them become responsible citizens.

Though that was the first time the polytechnic had participated in the sanitation exercise, he said it was important for the institution to join the national exercise.

He was of the view that “in a situation where you know what you are doing is affecting climate change and, for that matter the environment, do the clean-up well for the sake of environmental safety”.

He commended the staff members and the students, who, together with the authorities of the polytechnic, engaged in the exercise on the NSD.

He indicated that the polytechnic had resolved to make the clean-up a monthly obligation to ensure environmental safety and inculcate a sense of proper hygiene in students.

Some staff members who also participated in the clean-up were the acting Registrar, Mr Abraham Adjei Anana;  the Director of Audit, Mr Stephen Dwamena Kwakye; the Deputy Director of Audit, Mr Divine Komla Sekyere and the Protocol and Acting Public Relations Officer, Mrs Akua Adjei Ntim.
