President approves promotion of 2 senior police officers
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has, upon the recommendations of the Police Council, approved the promotion of two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) to the rank of Commissioners of Police (COPs).
They are Mr Kwasi Mensah Duku and Mr Paul Manly Awini.
A terse police statement announcing the promotions said they took effect from July 1, 2019.

Mr Duku is currently the Ashanti Regional Police Commander while Mr Awini is the Central Regional Commander.
The statement congratulated Mr Duku and Mr Awini on their new positions.
COP Duku is an experienced senior officer having held positions such as Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander and Upper West and Western Regional Commander.
Mr Awini has equally served in various capacities as a senior officer.
Last promotions
This is the second time this year that promotions to the rank of COPs have been made.
The previous one, which took effect from April 1, 2019, involved seven senior police officers, including the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah.
The others are Mr George Tuffuor, Finance, Mr Alex Amponsah Asiamah, Director-General of Services; Mr George Alex Mensah, Director-General of Operations; Mr Alphonse Adu-Amankwah, Eastern Regional Commander, and Mr Timothy Yoosah Bonga, Northern Regional Police Commander.
