The National Media Commission (NMC) has appointed new board members for the four state-owned media organisations in Ghana.
They are Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL), the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the New Times Corporation (Times), and the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
Educationist and professor at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Samuel Kweku Hayford, is the Chairman of the GCGL board,
Francis Mills Robertson chairs the GBC board, journalist, academic and former Director-General of GBC, Dr Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow, chairs the GNA board, with veteran journalist, entrepreneur and trainer, Dr Charity Binka, chairing the New Times board.
Aside from other members, all the boards have the Managing Directors of the organisations as members of the board.
In a statement issued in Accra Wednesday (August 19, 2026) and signed by the Acting Executive Secretary, Paula Sanziri, the NMC said the appointments were made in consultation with the President in line with Article 168 of the Constitution and sections of the National Media Commission Act, 1993 (Act 449).
Board members
The board of GCGL has Emmanuel Osei Ofosu, Richard Asamoah-Mensah, Frederic Kofi Rockson, and Dr Camynta Baezie, as members.
The rest are Elvis Aaron Amenyitor, Bernard Owusu and Dr Rufai Kilu Haruna.
Francis Mills Robertson chairs GBC board
Supporting Mr Mills Robertson at the GBC board include Bashiratu Kamal, Dr Ahmed Dawale Mohammed, Dr Jacob Ibrahim Abudu, and Hawa Muhammad Awwal.
The rest are marketing communication professional, Nathaniel Leslie Lomo-Mainoo, Emmanuel Kumadey, and associate professor at the Department of Communication Studies of the University of Ghana, Prof. Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin.
Dr Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow chairs GNA board
For the GNA, Mercy Catherine Adjabeng, Francis Dadzie Jnr and Prof. Adwoa Sikayena Amankwah, will assist Dr Anoff-Ntow.
The rest of the members are Dr Moshie-Dayan Ahiamenyo, Vance Azu, a former Night Editor at the Daily Graphic, and Alexander Nii Katey Bannerman.
Dr Charity Binka chairs New Times board
To assist Dr Binka at New Times will include Theresa Owusu Ako, Eric Nyarko-Aboagye, Donald Gwira, and Very Rev. Helena Amma Serwah Opoku-Sarkodie.
The rest are queenmother and media executive, Naana Aklerh Amenyah Kubi I, Kojo Tito Voegborlo, and Dr Timothy S. K. Quashigah.
