The association is a brainchild of the company to bring former employees together to enable them to participate in the management and maintenance of communities established by the SHC.

Inaugurating the association, the Managing Director of SHC, Dr Mark Nii Akwei Ankrah, said the essence of forming the association was to maintain a cordial relationship between ex- employees and communities established by the company.

He said the retired employees within the communities possessed a repertoire of knowledge and skills that could be tapped to “manage our communities better.”

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, who was the guest speaker for the occasion, urged the association to support the SHC in its quest to carry out its mandate.

She expressed worry over the deterioration of some of the SHC communities, particularly  Dansoman and its environs.

Mrs Owusu Ekufful appealed to the association and the company to take measures to hasten the development of the communities which were fast deteriorating.

The MP lauded the initiative of the company to provide assistance to ex- employees.
