The Vehicle Inspection and Technical Organisation (VITO) of S-Class Service Limited in Accra, a company that issues roadworthy certificates, has donated non-alcoholic beverages and an amount of money to two institutions, the Osu Children’s Home and Princess Marie Louise Children Hospital (PMLCH), as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The drinks were made up of 24 boxes of bottled water and 10 cartons of soft drinks for inmates of each of the institutions, both in Accra, and GH¢10,000 each to support their operations.

Presenting the items to the institutions in Accra last Friday, the Chief Executive Officer of  the company, Mr Samuel Oppong, said the gesture was to show love to the beneficiaries, adding that “as partners in development, we believe we have to support the government in that respect with the little that we have.”

Commendation

The management of the two institutions, the hospital and the home, commended the donors for the gesture, urging other stakeholders to come to their aid.

For her part, the Principal Nursing Officer of the hospital, Ms Margaret Amoako, appealed to the government to increase its staff, especially doctors, to enhance its operations.

The mission of the hospital is to work in collaboration with all partners in the health sector, to ensure that every individual, household and community is adequately informed about child health and has equitable access to high quality health care and related interventions.

The vision of the Osu Children's Home, which currently has approximately 200 children aged from zero to 23 is to fully integrate all children admitted to the home back to the mainstream of society.
