The grand climax of the celebrations will be the ceremonial parade at the forecourt of the Presidency on Thursday, March 6, 2025, marking Ghana’s official Independence Day.
28th February Commemoration
The NCPC has introduced a fresh approach to the 28th February commemoration by rolling out educational and informative content across television, radio, and social media platforms ahead of the Wreath Laying Ceremony.
“With this new approach, we hope to reset the interest and participation of the youth and the general populace in the significant national event whilst remembering and honouring our heroes,” the statement read.
To this end, the committee will share “interesting historical content on the happenings leading up to the 28th February 1948 shooting of three ex-servicemen.” Additionally, an X-space conversation on ‘The Changing Face of Civil Protests in Ghana: Lessons from the Past and Present’ will be hosted by the Communications Subcommittee.
The media has also been encouraged to play an active role in promoting public engagement. “Radio, television, online and print media are encouraged to host and publish conversations to promote the anniversary theme and other activities to deepen public participation,” the statement said.
The Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place at the Nationalism Park at 8:00 AM on February 28, 2025. The event will be broadcast live and streamed on multiple platforms.
The NCPC has called on media outlets, bloggers, and the public to actively participate by sharing information. “We encourage the media, bloggers, and the public to actively participate by sharing information with their viewers, listeners, and readers,” the statement added.
