Team to investigate Adum Central Market fire

A four-member fact finding team has been dispatched from the headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to the Ashanti Region to conduct a preliminary assessment of the fire outbreak that occurred on September 8, 2015 at the Adum Central Market.

According to a statement issued by the GNFS in Accra yesterday, the delegation, led by Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Mr Michel Yarquah, will conduct preliminary operational and technical assessment of the fire, estimate the cost of damage and also recommend safety measures to mitigate any future occurrence.

The team is expected to submit its findings to the Chief Fire Officer on September 14, 2015.

Fire incident

More than 19 shops at the Adum Central Market were gutted by fire on September  8, 2015. There were no casualties but items destroyed by the fire included clothes, electrical gadgets, CDs, DVD players, shoes, jewellery and deep freezers in a cold store.
