Dozens of people have been displaced by tidal waves at Horve Agavedzi in the Volta region.

Their homes have been washed away by the sea water. The Volta Regional Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation was yet to assist them.

Some residents of the area told Accra based radio station Starr FM that government must speed up the construction of the sea defence wall in the area.

“We are suffering from the ravages of the sea. The sea is destroying houses along the coast from Horve to Denu,” they said.

They expressed concern that if care was not taken and the Keta – Denu road was destroyed, transportation would be difficult in the area.
