TV Africa holds maiden blood donation exercise

Accra based television station, TV Africa has held its maiden blood donation exercise in response to an appeal by the National Blood Bank (NBB) to help it restock over the weekend.

The National Blood Service, Ghana (NBSG) recently said it was unable to reach its 50 per cent target of Voluntary Unpaid Blood Donation across the country in 2017.

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NBSG, Dr Justina K Ansah, the service was able to achieve only 36 out of the 50 per cent target for voluntary blood donations nationwide.

It is against this background that the television station has initiated the blood donation exercise to help NBSG to encourage voluntary blood donation to restock the National Blood Bank (NBB).

The exercise dubbed, "Donate Blood to save life", saw many people in the metropolis voluntarily donating blood to support what they describe as a worthy cause.
