The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with the killing of two people at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Accra, and offered a GH¢100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the alleged gunman.
The woman, Beatrice Mumuni, is alleged to have led the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, to the residence of the victims, George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47, before they were shot dead on Friday, October 30, 2026.
The police have declared Osei Anto wanted and appealed to the public to assist in his arrest.
In a statement announcing the arrest on October 31, 2026, the police urged anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or call the emergency numbers 191 or 18555.
Circumstances of the killings
In an earlier statement dated October 30, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the police said officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to a house at the NTHC Estate after receiving information about the incident.
The officers found the bodies of George Atuguba and his niece lying in pools of blood.
The two were rushed to hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead.
Their bodies were subsequently deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Baatsona Divisional Police Command is handling investigations into the case.
Financial dispute
The police said preliminary investigations suggested that the killings might have resulted from a financial dispute between Osei Anto and George Atuguba.
According to the police statement, George Atuguba had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but failed to repay the money.
Osei Anto reportedly visited the victims' residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand repayment.
A misunderstanding allegedly ensued, during which Osei Anto reportedly shot and killed the two victims.
