The Chairperson of UNICOF, Madam Rosina Asoba, observed that the home was dear to the heart of the union, hence its decision to support it.

She said the facility needed support to improve on its infrastructure and appealed to philanthropists and other public-spirited organisations to support the operations of the home.

In her response, the officer in charge of the home, Rev. Sister Innocentia Debpuur, expressed gratitude to the executive of UNICOF for "the love you have shown these little ones".

Challenges

Sister Debpuur said the home needed to be renovated as cracks had developed in portions of the buildings. She also said the inmates needed more clothing and other resources to feed the children and also mentioned the need for computers and accessories to teach the children.

Clean up-campaign

Earlier, the UNICOF executive and some workers of the Zoomlion Company Limited embarked on a clean-up exercise on the premises of the home.

The exercise was to demonstrate the commitment of UNICOF towards ensuring that the children lived in a clean environment.
