Upper West hosts sanitation exercise tomorrow

The Upper West Region (UWR) will host this month’s National Sanitation Day clean-up exercise tommorow.

The exercise in that region is the ninth edition (after the Greater Accra, Eastern, Western, Volta, Northern, Upper East, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions). 

At a press briefing to launch the event in Wa, a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Nii Lante Vandepuije, called on all stakeholders such as traditional authorities, municipal and district assemblies, heads of departments, town and area councils, and students to get involved in the exercise.

“You should all come out with your cleaning apparatus and tools to supplement what will be provided to ensure a grand success,” he urged.
He said the programme should not be an event but a process that should be sustained.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Suleman, said the exercise coincides with the campaign against cholera with the onset of the rainy season.
