In May 2026, Graphic Online initially published a citizen journalist's report highlighting a hazard posed by ongoing road construction works along the Akyerensua-Hwidiem stretch on the R63 highway that links Bechem through Tepa, Akyerensua, Hwidiem to Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital.
Following the report, authorities stepped in to place temporary caution signals at the dangerous spot on the R63.
Public updates indicate that despite the placement of these signals, the structural danger and hazard on the road remain unresolved four months after the initial report.
The caution signals have since been destroyed.
