Voltic refurbishes Nsawam police station male cells

Voltic Ghana limited has refurbished the male cells at the Nsawam District Police headquarters. The work, which included tiling of the floors, installation of a water closet, showers and a water storage tank, cost an estimated GH¢45,000.

At a ceremony to hand over the renovated cells, the Plant Manager of Voltic, Mr Eugene Djan-Sampson, said the decision for the refurbishment was born out of the motivation of the company to uphold the dignity of every human being, including those who had been placed on remand and were yet to be taken through a full judicial process.

“When we received an appeal from the district command of the police service for the assistance, we took a critical look at the poor conditions of the cells and decided to embark on a restoration.  That is not to say we encourage wrongdoing.  We believe the police also deserve to have good facilities to motivate them to keep the country safe and secure,” he explained.

Focus

He said the company’s focus was on transforming and uplifting communities positively by supporting education and health in order to bring about societal development.

The Nsawam District Police Commander, DSP Michael Zah Dandy, expressed gratitude to Voltic for its support. He said the facelift given to the police cells would bring much relief to the inmates.

“This gesture is commendable and we urge other companies in this area to support us. We have many needs and so any form of help will be welcomed,” DSP Dandy appealed.
