The Yilo Krobo Traditional Council is to celebrate its annual Kloyosikplemi Festival this year to promote unity and development in the area.

The festival, which began in 1992, was not celebrated last year due to some challenges.

The acting President of the council, Nene Tetteh Odonkor Tumeh, announced this at a meeting with members of the council at Somanya.

The Kloyosikplemi, which means descending the Krobo mountain, is an annual festival celebrated in November every year.

Meeting

The meeting, which was dubbed, ‘’Yilo Krobo Outreach Meeting’’ was attended by divisional chiefs and people from the six divisions in the traditional area. They included Nyewer, Okper, Bunase, Plau, Ogome and Bornya.

Nene Tumeh, who led the discussion, further explained that they were unable to organise the festival last year mainly due to some chieftaincy dispute pending before the Koforidua High Court. “We have now gone far in the matter and so it will not affect the celebration of this year’s festival.

“The Kloyosikplemi Festival is for all Yilo Krobos and once there is an acting president of the council, we shall celebrate it by all means come what may,” Nene Tumeh emphasised.

He said preparations were far advanced and that the divisional chiefs would soon meet with members of the festival planning committee to start preparations towards its successful celebration.

Caution

On the wanton sale of lands in the area, Nene Tumeh warned those involved in the illegal practice to desist from such acts.

He also admonished the people to desist from rumour-mongering since it bred mistrust and tensions that were inimical to the accelerated development of the area.

Advice

The Yilo Krobo Paramount Queenmother, Nene Korlekuor Adjado III, advised parents and guardians to be more responsible in the upbringing and conduct of their children and wards.

‘’Let us revisit the old time communal discipline which we all went through  that made us good boys and girls ,’’ Nene Korlekuor  stressed.
