Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle has been nominated for appointment as Minister of Environment, Science and Technology in President John Dramani Mahama's first reshuffle in his second term.

Also nominated for appointment as Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs is Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and current Majority Leader in Parliament.

This is coming after President John Dramani Mahama reshuffled two ministers and appointed two new ones, after one year, eight months in office in his second term as President.

Following this, President Mahama has reassigned Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence.

Kenneth Gilbert Adjei served as Deputy Minister of Defence in President Mahama's first term from May 2015 to January 6, 2017.

Ahmed Ibrahim, the Member of Parliament for Banda has also been reassigned from the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministry to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

This was made known in a statement issued Friday afternoon (August 7) by the Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu who also doubles as Minister of State in charge of Government Communications.


The changes made in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution are to find replacements for Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Murtala Mohammed, who died in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

The new names, those of Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings and Mahama Ayariga have been submitted to Parliament for approval before appointment.
