Amansie East endorses President’s nominee

The Amansie East Municipal Assembly at its sitting at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region has endorsed the President’s nominee for the post of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Mary Juantuah, who is also the outgoing Presiding Member (PM) for the assembly.
The assembly, in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission, also elected Mr Atta Kruffie, the assembly member for Koniyaw/Asokore Electoral Area as the new Presiding Member.

In the election for the MCE position, out of the 51 assembly members who were present at the meeting, 40 affirmed the MCE and 11 voted against her appointment, while 38 also voted for the PM while 11 voted against him.

The election became necessary following the dismissal of Mr Noah Asante, the MCE, by President John Mahama  last month, while the post of PM also became vacant after Madam Juantuah was nominated by the government as the new MCE.

In her acceptance speech, Madam Juantuah commended the assembly members for the trust reposed in her and pledged to work with all the members to  develop the municipality. She therefore appealed to all the members to avoid partisanship and forge ahead in unity.

Madam Juantuah assured the members of her desire to promote unity and teamwork among the various groups and committees to ensure smooth working experience the assembly.

She pledged to work very hard and ensure that the assembly’s resources are put to good use and every area gets its fair share of the national cake.
