He stressed the need for assembly members to educate the electorate about the importance of elections and encourage the youth who had attained 18 years to register during the revision of the voters register.

Mr Agyekum, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza South, was addressing the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly at Nkoranza.

He commended the assembly members for the team work and collaborative efforts throughout the period they served the people and advised them to return to their electoral areas as role models.

The Nkoranza Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Stella Amoatemaa, expressed her appreciation to the Nkoranza Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Joseph Owusu, the officers and men of the Ghana Police Service for combating crime in the municipality.

Madam Amoatemaa said it was important for the assembly members to encourage their people to volunteer information on suspected criminals in their area to the police.

She said the assembly had been selected among five others to benefit from a model market project which would be facilitated by three ministries.

The ministries are Local Government and Rural Development, Trade and Industry and Finance.

Madam Amoatemaa commended revenue collectors for their hard work which resulted in the assembly realising GH¢91, 567 at the end of the first-quarter as against the estimated figure of GH¢73, 929 representing 23 per cent above the target.
