Electoral tensions flare over suspicious ballot papers in Ayawaso West Wuogon (VIDEOS)

Chaos erupted at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency collation centre after alleged unauthorised ballot papers were discovered.

Party agents claimed the suspicious ballots lacked official Electoral Commission (EC) stamps and were being brought into the centre by individuals not wearing EC jackets.

While some suggested the ballots were pre-marked for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, copies of the ballots obtained by the Daily Graphic showed no thumbprints on them.

The discovery sparked anger among National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters, who quickly set up an impromptu blockade to prevent any new ballot boxes from entering the facility.

Tensions escalated as NDC supporters threatened anyone attempting to bring in unauthorised ballot boxes. Their frustration was also directed at law enforcement, accusing them of failing to properly secure the centre.

Police officers on the scene urged calm and reassured the public that they were managing the situation.

One of the officers disclosed that they had already intercepted the unauthorised ballot boxes and were working to apprehend those responsible.

However, their investigation efforts were hampered when supporters confronted them, preventing them from tracking the source of the suspicious materials.

The officer explained that a full investigation to trace the origin of the ballot boxes and identify all involved parties was underway, but the hostile environment at the centre had complicated their work.
