The objective is to win all the 11 seats in the region and also win the presidential votes to ensure a victory for the NDC presidential candidate.

The NDC currently has eight out of the 11 constituencies in the region while the New Patriot Party has three, namely: Nandom, Lambusie and Sissala East.

The party also launched its operation “The five Northern regions for Ghana” aimed at annexing all the seats in the five regions in the northern part of the country.

Before the launch, the party, with almost all the parliamentary aspirants from the region together with some national and regional executives, went on a walk through some of the principal streets of Wa before converging on the Tendaaba Primary School Park for a mini-rally.

Speaking at the launch, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, charged the party faithful in the region to lead the quest to annex all the seats in the Northern part of the country by ensuring that the NDC won all the 11 seats in the region.

He said over the years, the region had demonstrated its support for the party by voting massively for the NDC in the previous elections. He said it was time they repeated the same by leading the way and reclaiming the seats the party lost to the NPP in the last elections.

Honour

Mr Iddrisu said the establishment of the University of Development Studies now known as Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies changed the socioeconomic development of the Upper West and the Northern regions and it was time for the people to honour the NDC with an overwhelming victory come December 7, 2024.

He said the NPP had not only mismanaged the country but also plunged it into debt and the magnitude of the rots could only be known after the NPP exited power.

Mr Iddrisu said allowing the NPP to remain in power would further exacerbate the plight of the people and that it was time the NPP was kicked out of power.

He said John Mahama, the flag bearer of the NDC, had been tested and all the corruption allegations levelled against him, especially his alleged involvement in the Airbus scandal, had been found not to be true.

On behalf of the National Executive of the party and supported by the Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC, Malik Basintale, and the Upper West Regional Chairman of NDC, Abdul Nasir Saani, he launched ‘Operation 11-11’ and urged the people to bring back the NDC to ease their sufferings.
