NDC supporters urged to intensify campaigns for victory

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Akyem Oda has launched its constituency campaign with a call on members and supporters of the party to intensify their campaigns for the party to chalk up a landslide victory in the upcoming general election.

A former Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Bismarck Tawiah Boateng, made the call when he addressed a rally after joining a well-attended health walk to demonstrate that the NDC was very active in the Oda Constituency.

He noted with concern that even though the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been the dominant political party in the Oda Constituency since the inception of the fourth republic in 1992, it had neglected the area in terms of development.

Mr Tawiah Boateng, therefore, urged the electorate to vote for the NDC in the December 7, 2024 general election to see the difference in governance and equitable distribution of quality development projects.

He gave an assurance that the next NDC government would split the Eastern Region into two and make Oda the regional capital of the proposed region to speed up the progress of the area.

Job creation

Mr Tawiah Boateng stressed that among the top priorities of the flag bearer of the party were job creation for the teeming unemployed youth and the restoration of the dignity of the nation.

The Regional Youth Organiser of the NDC, Richard Etornam Nyarko, who performed the inaugural ceremony, stressed that the party would face the NPP boot for boot at the polling stations to prevent rigging.

He, therefore, admonished the party's polling agents to be vigilant on the election for them not to be overtaken by events.

Mr Nyarko later swore into office members of seven working committees of the constituency including the campaign team, the youth and women's wings and the Zongo caucus.

Vote

The Oda Constituency parliamentary candidate of the NDC, Jones Asante, who was overwhelmed about the heavy turnout, advised them to translate their massive support into votes on December 7, 2024, for the party to sweep both the presidential and parliamentary polls.

Mr Asante said he would use his position as an MP to lobby for the establishment of clinics in the communities in the constituency and also construct a fourth market at Oda to meet the demands of the people.

He promised to set up a centre to train more unemployed youth and provide them with working capital and tools for them to venture into businesses of their choice.

Other speakers at the function included the Deputy Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, Michael Ofoe Akorli, the Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator; Alhaji Issa Saani, the founder of first-time voters initiative, Richard Ojam, and the Oda Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Mumuni Gariba.
