The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Chairman, Mawutor Agbavitor, has emerged as the sole candidate for the position following the close of nominations, describing the development as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership.
In a message expressing gratitude to party members and supporters, Mr Agbavitor said the development came with a greater responsibility to serve the party and the people of the region.
“Going unopposed is not merely a personal milestone; it is a profound reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in my leadership,” he said.
He said the development should inspire him to work harder rather than become a reason for complacency, pledging to listen more, improve his service and contribute to the party’s progress.
Greater responsibility
Mr Agbavitor expressed appreciation to party members, executives, supporters, stakeholders and well-wishers for their continued support.
“To every party member, executive, supporter, stakeholder and well-wisher who continues to believe in us, Akpe na mi,” he said, using the Ewe expression to convey his gratitude.
He stressed that the confidence shown in him imposed an obligation to strengthen his commitment to the party and its members.
“This confidence is not a reason to rest, but a call to serve better, listen more and do more for our great party and our people,” he added.
Unity agenda
The Volta regional chairman said he was committed to building on the progress made by the party and working towards a stronger legacy anchored in service, unity and commitment.
He called for continued collective effort, emphasising the need for sustained dedication to the party’s objectives and the interests of the people.
“Together, we will continue to build on the progress made and leave an even stronger legacy of service, unity and commitment,” he said.
