I will ‘snatch’ Nadowli/Kaleo seat from NDC — Bipuah

Mr Inusah Bipuah, a 43-year-old engineer who is vying for the vacant First Vice Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that he will ensure that the party wins the Nadowli-Kaleo seat in the next election if he is elected.

“I will also work with the elected constituency and regional executive to grab the Nadowli-Kaleo seat in particular and launch an ‘operation sweep all seats’ in the UWR campaign”.

In an interview in Wa, after a campaign tour last Wednesday, he said he was sure that the people would make a good choice if they voted for him.

National executives

The First Vice Chairmanship position became vacant following the decision of Mr Hafiz Bin Salih not to contest for the UWR Chairmanship position. Mr Bipuah is in contention with three others — Mr Alhassan Sulemana, Mr Lawrence Yiryel and Mr Aziz Abdul Rahaman.

Mr Bipuah further assured the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, and the national executive of the NPP that when he wins the race, they should forget about any campaign activity in the UWR and concentrate on the Volta Region for votes. “From a margin of zero, we succeeded in grabbing five parliamentary seats from the NDC which had all along held the entire 11 parliamentary seats, namely the Lawra, Nandom, Wa-East, Sissala East and West constituencies,” he said.

Constitutional rule

He said the NDC had since the reintroduction of constitutional rule and the birth of the Fourth Republican Parliament in 1992 maintained the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency seat, which had remained its stronghold, with Mr Alban Kinsford Bagbin as the MP.

He was surprised that after 25 years of his uninterrupted tenure as the MP for the area, the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, which doubled as one of the oldest in the UWR, was way behind most of the newly created districts in terms of availability of social amenities and infrastructural facilities.

“The fortunes of the NPP are enhanced in the region by the new leadership it now has and with the motto: ‘Development In Freedom’, the party is battle ready for election 2020,” he said.

He said as a member of the party since 1992, with his vast experience and ideas, if elected to join the next executive, they would impart their words of wisdom into the party and electorate for the enrichment of lives.
