My Anyidoho was speaking on Accra-based Joy FM as to whether the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ‘Wongbo’ demonstration, held in Accra Wednesday over the poor situation, was justified.

According to Anyidoho, in view of the gravity of the gravity of the crisis, it was appropriate that the NPP exercised it legitimate right to demonstrate.

He said: “What the NPP did yesterday – for me it is a legitimate weapon of democracy; and they are in opposition. What are you expecting them to do – to just sit down? If we were in opposition, we would have done same.

“So what the NPP did yesterday was legit. To the extent that we didn’t hear any loss of life and destruction of property, kudos to them. If I were in opposition, I would have done same. It’s a crisis,”.

“I’ve been in opposition before and had a series of demonstrations,” he added.

Mr Anyidoho said he was comforted, however, by the fact President John Mahama was aware of the crisis and was doing everything possible to improve power supply.
