The former education minister and high commissioner to South Africa believes this is the only way the NDC can survive efforts by opponents to divide their front.

In a congratulatory statement to the party’s newly elected regional executives, Ambassador Ocran said: “We have been able to surmount these challenges because of party unity and discipline, so I urge all to continue to exhibit these noble attributes to ensure victory in 2016.”

He further said in the statement that “the party has remained solid over the years despite the machinations by our opponents to sow discord among our grass roots supporters.”

He called for unity within the rank and file of the party to ensure victory in 2016.

“The people's hopes depend on us as the party in government, hence the need for victors and defeated candidates alike to come together and work for victory in 2016,” the statement quoted Mr Ocran as saying.

According to Ambassador Ocran, the NDC would go to congress on December 13 to elect new national executives to run the affairs of the party for the next four years.

He has, therefore, called for fairness in all deliberations.
