Let's give Bawumia a chance; Mahama has had his turn – Nkwantakese Chief

The Chief of Nkwantakese in the Amenfi East Constituency of the Western Region, Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea, has called on Ghanaians to give Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the opportunity to lead the country.

The Chief praised Bawumia’s performance as Vice President and expressed confidence in his ability to lead as President.

Speaking in Asankragua during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign visit, Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea noted that the 2024 election will be a contest between two Northerners, referring to Dr. Bawumia of the NPP and former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He urged Ghanaians to consider Bawumia, as Mahama has already served as President.

"This election is going to be between two Northerners. We know one of them, the old one, because he has had his chance," the chief remarked. "The other Northerner is new, having only served as a 'mate' [Vice President], and now he is asking us to hand him the steering wheel. We've seen him take the wheel a few times, and he's proven he can drive smoothly. So why not give him a chance to drive the car?"

He continued, "Let’s give him a chance because he has shown that he’s capable, based on the work he’s done as the driver's mate."

Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea praised Dr. Bawumia as the best Vice President in Ghana’s history, emphasizing that he deserves to be elevated to the presidency to continue his contributions.

"We have seen many Vice Presidents in this country, but you are unique. You have done so well," the chief added.

While commending both Dr. Bawumia and President Nana Akufo-Addo for their development efforts in the community, the chief also appealed to Bawumia to complete ongoing projects in the area when he becomes President.

"I’m not saying 'if' you win. I believe you’ve already won by the grace of God, so I’m saying 'when' you become President."
