“Our chiefs have played fatherly roles in supporting the assembly’s agenda to provide first-class educational and medical facilities for the area,” he said.

Mr Angenu made the commendation at Adentan when he met chiefs in the area to deliberate on the developmental agenda of the assembly, what the assembly had been able to do and the way forward for 2016.

The occasion afforded the chiefs and the MCE the opportunity to interact and discuss issues concerning the development of the municipality.

Mr Angenu outlined what the assembly was doing in the areas of education, security, justice, electricity and water and urged residents of the municipality to support it to discharge its responsibilities to help improve lives.

Schoolchildren
He charged schoolchildren in the area to reciprocate the sacrifices made for them by taking their studies seriously in order to get first-choice placement in SHS next year.

He said plans were far advanced to provide teachers with accommodation to enhance education delivery in the area.

He, consequently, appealed to teachers in the area to be dedicated to their work and not allow monetary considerations to overshadow their professional calling.

He also acknowledged the effort of the chiefs in the area in providing land for the construction of a polyclinic and announced that plans were far advanced for the construction of nurses’ quarters for nurses to be posted to the polyclinic.

Other developmental activities
Mr Angenu said the assembly had secured land for the construction of a court complex to house a magistrate and two circuit courts to ensure speedy delivery of justice.

He said more than 500 street lights were fixed this year and 950 more would be procured and fixed in all the communities within the municipality.

On security, he announced that the assembly had supported the police with a motorbike and brand new tyres for their vehicles to enable them to provide adequate security during the festive season.
