Police engage youth leaders

The Police Administration has begun series of engagements with youth leaders of the various political groups as part of moves to clamp down on political vigilante groups as the country prepares for the general elections later in the year.

The engagement, which has started at the national level, will trickle down to the regional and constituency levels across the country.

Speaking at the first in the series of the engagements in Accra yesterday, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor reiterated the preparedness of his administration to deal decisively with political vigilante groups.

Manifestations

He said the last by-election in Talensi saw manifestations of some form of political violence by vigilantes, pointing out that the police administration would not countenance any such development.

“That bespeaks the need for consistent engagement with the youth of political parties for peaceful elections,” he added.
