The rest are Ms Benedicta Datsomor, Women Organiser, Ms Margaret Adanuvor Treasurer and Mr Confidence Adedia Education Secretary.

They  were sworn in by the Chairman of the Election Committee, Mr Kwasi de-Roy, who commended the delegates for organising a successful  conference.

Background

According to the Secretary of the PPP Elections Committee, Mr Richard Nii Armah, all card-bearing members of the party who were in good standing were eligible to vote.

The Volta Region is the seventh region to have successfully conducted its regional elections after the Central, Eastern, Upper East, Brong Ahafo, Upper West and Northern regions.

Mr Lamptey said the PPP was poised to re-energise and entrench its dominance on the political landscape of the country.

“It is the aim of the party not to be third in the 2016 Elections, but to win enough seats to form a considerable majority in Parliament without failing the presidential elections,” he declared.

He said the PPP had not been happy with the level of ineptitude and impunity displayed by parastatals in recent times, saying, “Evidence of this ineptitude on the part of government officials is the current ‘dumsor dumsor’ we are experiencing all over the country.”

He said the PPP was seeking power to use government resources to solve the little problems confronting the nation, which the Mahama-led administration had failed to do.
