The Council had earlier on refused the request of the party citing derogatory remarks by the party's Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman, Kwaku Asomah-Kyeremeh as the reason for its refusal.

But the Deputy National Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen told Graphic Online that a delegation of the party led by Nana Akufo-Addo finally paid the courtesy call on Nana Nkrawiri and his elders at his private residence Saturday morning.

"We were warmly welcomed and we thank the council for its gesture", said Obiri Boahen.

He said they were there to pay homage to the Omanhene.

Asked whether the issue that led to the refusal was discussed, Obiri Boahen said "the fact is that we were enthusiastically received".

Those who accompanied Nana Addo included Dr Mahamudu Bawumiah and Madam Ama Busia.

He said the party would later go back to resolve the bone of contention with the Council and the regional executives of the party.

The party had written a letter to the Council asking permission for the flagbearer to call on the Omanhene as part of the 15th Extraordinary Conference of the party taking place in Sunyani Saturday.

But in a reply to the letter, the Council said it could not grant the permission, explaining that even though the Council had nothing against Nana Akufo-Addo, it would want the matter to be settled before any such meeting.
